Sex Columnist: Bed hopping

I think our generation is becoming more comfortable with casual sex - and we embrace it. It's common to hear women say, "He's the type of guy I'd want to marry, but he's not for right now."

So, what is for right now? Well, disengaging ourselves from any emotion and nonchalantly getting familiar with each other's goods, all for the love of the game - sex.

Regardless of gender, we find ourselves attracted to people we clearly just want to see butt naked and fondle. I've proven this to myself a couple of times due to random people I've slept with just for the cause.

It seems like society has changed its mind for women due to sitcoms such as "Sex and the City" and "Gossip Girl."

Instead of women coming to college to get a bachelor's degree in "wifey," we are here to get our degrees in whatever we dream of and embrace our independence while doing so.

The four, empowering ladies from "Sex and the City," show us a different kind of sex - in-the-moment, entertaining and worthwhile when single. No man is labeled serious enough to report back to every night, and yet viewers can continue to get that weekly dose of a feel-good orgasm.

People who have casual sex aren't selfish; they are the same people who engage in relationships, just not simultaneously. Having carefree sex might just mean someone hasn't found "the one," and possibly doesn't care to in the near future.

Sometimes we don't want to settle down and get serious, and who's to blame us? We are college students, not Stepford wives. I think we are still experimenting with defining the true meaning of great sex. How are we supposed to be able to define something if we can't look it up?

I don't think I could discover what I want sexually if I only stuck with one person and his distinct "style." I'm not a fan of slow or awkward moaning sex, and I don't appreciate routine fast and hard "in-out" motions either. I don't think I'd know any of this unless I'd had other people to compare to.

Our women ancestors did a lot to fight for our rights. They fought for our vote, our education, our salaries, and it's about time we are allowed to get away with all of the same things men can - including carefree sex.

Instead of a diamond, I want a career. Instead of a baby I want endless pleasure. I'm not ready to play house until I've sampled and selected exactly what I want for not only my husband but also my sex life.

Once I choose my hubby and settle down, it's a done deal, so I want to make sure I choose a good one.
