Some say love is blind, but not always in the eyes of the law. Thousands of couples rejoiced this summer as the California Supreme Court lifted the ban on same-sex marriages May 15.
Going to the chapel
Celebrities are the first to jump on any new trend, and homosexual Hollywood is no different. George Takei, who played Mr. Sulu on "Star Trek," was one of the first celebrities to obtain a Los Angeles County marriage license. Comedian-turned-talk-show-host Ellen DeGeneres and actress Portia de Rossi tied the knot Aug. 16 and want to start a family soon.
Kiss me Katy
The summer's intoxicating bisexual anthem was pop singer Katy Perry's hit single, "I Kissed A Girl." The 23-year-old Santa Barbara native has ruled the Billboard charts for 15 weeks, peaking at No. 1. Perry's lyrics may proclaim she kissed a girl "just to try it," but when given the option of soft, cherry-flavored lips, who wouldn't like it?
Almost out, not proud
Hollywood's bed-hopping vixen, Lindsay Lohan, has tried to keep her lesbian relationship with Samantha Ronson, a DJ, under wraps since early 2008. OK! Magazine reportedly offered Lohan $1 million to come out in a cover story. The actress declined, but that didn't stop Los Angeles Police Department Chief William Bratton from saying that since Lohan has "gone gay," there hasn't been much of an issue with paparazzi. Lohan retaliated by asking people to stay out of her personal life. As if "staying straight" could improve her promiscuous party girl image.
One shot too many
Tila Tequila proved her bisexuality on the finale of her dating show "A Shot of Love 2 With Tila Tequila." She chose female contestant Kristy Morgan, only to be rejected. MTV offered Tequila a third season, but she declined to pursue a relationship with lover Courtenay Semel. Semel revealed she had a hot and heavy fling with Lohan before the actress got exclusive with Ronson, according to the U.K. tabloid News of the World.
The Hollywood bisexual scene should start handing out "Six Degrees of Lindsay Lohan's Panties" pamphlets.
Gay is the new black, so throw your boring heterosexual tendencies back in the closet and go out and proud this season.
