Butte splits doubleheader The Butte College baseball team split a doubleheader against Lassen Community College on Saturday in Susanville. The Roadrunners took the first game 10-6 before falling 13-2 in the second game. The Roadrunners are 21-19 overall and 13-10 in the Golden Valley Conference.

Men's golf third in CCAA The Chico State men's golf team finished in third place at the California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament. The Wildcats were leading the eight-team field through the first two rounds but fell to third place after the final round. The 'Cats finished the tournament at a combined 3-over-par. Scholar athletes awarded Chico State pitcher Nick Bryant and Wildcat women's golfer Denise Canadas were honored as scholar athletes for the university last week. Bryant, a business major, was given the Bud Hanna Scholar Athlete Award. Canadas, a mechatronic engineering major, was given the Richard Dahl Scholar-Athlete Award.

No text messaging The NCAA's board of directors voted 13-3 to prohibit college coaches from text messaging potential recruits, The Associated Press reported. The rules still allow players to text message coaches, but the coaches are not allowed to respond. The rule also bans communication via videophone and social networking Web sites.

Idaho tackle busted Offensive tackle Marvin C. Jones Jr. was arrested after a two-week investigation in which the sophomore allegedly sold cocaine to undercover police officers, The Associated Press reported. Police found more than $1,600 in Jones' apartment, including marked bills used by investigators to allegedly purchase cocaine from Jones.

Penn State players charged Six members of the Penn State football team have been charged with one felony count of criminal trespass after allegedly starting a fight at an off-campus party, The Associated Press reported. Anthony Scirrotto, a star safety who led the Big 10 conference in interceptions, also faces felony charges of burglary and criminal solicitation.
