Students asked to be sustainable
Students can pledge to consider the social and environmental impacts of the jobs they consider applying for from now through May 18 by taking the Graduation Pledge.
More than 110 universities around the country will make the pledge this year, said Yesenia Aguilera, A.S. public relations coordinator.
Students can take the pledge by going to www.aschico.com/gradpledge or by stopping by the A.S. Recycling office in Bell Memorial Union Room 005.
Forensics team scores verbal victories
Four students traveled to the Spring Fling novice speech tournament this weekend and took home four awards. Tiffany Harrison won first place in persuasive speaking and
broadcasting, Tabitha Palmer placed third in persuasion and Jeff Kell was awarded third in broadcasting.
Last week, the university also hired a new director for the team. Sue Peterson, from Pepperdine University, will start in the fall.
Students run with pride
Pride/Safezone is having its second annual Running with Pride event Sunday morning in Bidwell Park. The 3-mile run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. and brings awareness to issues that affect the gay community.

Native Americans begin burial ceremony
Chico State and the Mechoopda Tribe will work to bring the remains of Native Americans back to their burial ground. Administrators from Chico State and Tribal Council meet Friday to ceremonially begin the process of cataloguing the remains and returning them.
Give blood, get a T-shirt
The Health Professionals Association will host the next blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 9 outside of Glenn and Siskiyou halls. All donors get free T-shirts.
People who donate blood are asked to eat and drink plenty of fluids before arriving with the required donor card or photo ID. The process takes about an hour, but donors can call ahead to Staff Council for appointments at 898-6156.
