The season ended for the baseball team after it was defeated by Sonoma State Sunday.
The game started off in the Seawolves' favor as soon as the second batter came up to the plate. Shortstop Kris Haycock basted his fifth homer of the year in the top of the first inning. He followed it up in the next inning with a single, which knocked in two more runners. By the end of the second it was 5-1 in Sonoma State's favor.
The 'Cats scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth off of Kyle Eveland and Travis DeCoito RBI hits to bring the score closer at 5-3. However the Seawolves scoring spree as it scored four more in the fifth and one in the seventh and eight innings. Chico State was only able to manage one more run, which came in the ninth, leaving the game in Sonoma State's favor at 11-4.
Chico State's Nick Dingman went 2-2 with one RBI and Shane Farmer went 2-3 with one run in the loss.
The 'Cats ended the season with a noble effort and a 42-17 overall record.
