THE GOOD

“Greg Rutter’s Definitive List of the 99 Things You Should Have Already Experienced on the Internet Unless You’re a Loser or Old or Something”
(WEB SITE)

The Web is a treasure trove of lulz and fails, but without someone to navigate your viral video adventure, it can be frustrating and unfunny experience. Luckily, Greg Rutter has compiled a list of the best time wasters on the Internet, so you never have to wade through a bunch of shitty parodies again. Whether it’s puking cats, fat people falling down or over-dubbed “X-Men” episodes, Rutter’s list of links doesn’t disappoint.

"Embryonic”
(ALBUM)

The freaks from Oklahoma City have managed to reinvent themselves again. On “Embryonic,” The Flaming Lips layer experimental noises on top of tight-knit grooves and mellow melodies in a way that isn’t trite or annoying like in “Zaireeka” or some of the band’s other attempts at being weird. The Flaming Lips can be hit-and-miss between albums, but “Embryonic” is probably their best work since 1999’s “The Soft Bulletin.”

THE BAD

“Family Guy Presents: Seth and Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show”
(TV SHOW)

Seth MacFarlane takes his unhealthy obsession with musical theater to new levels with a half-hour special sandwiched between mediocre episodes of “Family Guy.” Alongside Alex Borstein, best known as “Lois Griffin” and MAD TV’s “Ms. Swan,” MacFarlane awkwardly crooned through old “Family Guy” songs and delivered the impressions we’ve heard 1,000 times. The whole thing seemed like a cheap, boring way for MacFarlane to inflate his own ego on national television.

“The Cleveland Show”
(TV SHOW)

While we’re on the subject of Seth MacFarlane, I have to say his new show is the worst thing I’ve ever seen on FOX’s Sunday animation block. I can’t imagine how anyone thought it was a good idea to create a spin-off based on the most boring character in the “Family Guy” universe. The show is completely unoriginal, with racially obvious humor and is in bad taste. Even the annoying theme song makes me wish I were never born.

THE UNDECIDED

“Pirate Radio”
(MOVIE)

“Pirate Radio” looks like it could either be the funny and compelling story of how offshore radio stations kept rock ‘n’ roll alive in the UK during the 1960s, or another boring chronicle of the cultural relevance of music in the psychedelic age. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Rhys Darby are pluses, but writer-director Richard Curtis can range from cheesy “Bridget Jones’ Diary” to hilarious “Four Weddings and a Funeral.”

“The Blind Side”
(MOVIE)

Every year, Hollywood has to release the arbitrary movie where the kid from the ’hood rises to success amid all of the struggles around him. Most of them are horrible, but there are a select few that manage to be good. Unfortunately, “The Blind Side” seems doomed for failure. A sports movie based on a marginally-interesting true story is a bad start and throwing in Sandra Bullock with a Southern accent is asking for trouble.
