Y our genitals deserve to feel pretty.
Though it’s common to beautify fingers, ears and belly buttons with jewelry, consider adorning your private parts with rings and studs, known as genital piercing.
Historically, it is hard to say when genital piercing originated, according to “All About Genital Piercing” on webmd.com. There are accounts of tribes in Borneo that implanted bones in the head of the penis.
Also, the infamous “Prince Albert piercing,” which penetrates the penis from the bottom of the glans through the urethra, is named after Queen Victoria’s husband.
The legend is that Albert had his penis pierced so that he could manipulate his privates in order to prevent an unsightly bulge in his pants.
It was not until the 1970s that “piercing became fashionable with the punk movement and within some gay and S&M subcultures,” according to the article. It was first practiced at select piercing studios and then became mainstream.
Some critics consider genital piercing a form of masochism the procedure is not as agonizing as it sounds, according to WebMD. In fact, the piercing’s main function is to enhance sensitivity and sexual pleasure.
There is a wide selection of genital piercing locations to choose from, the article states.
Women can get the female version of the Prince Albert, called the “Princess Albertina,” in which the ring goes in the urethra and exits through the top of the vagina. Getting a vertical piercing through the clitoral hood, however, is the most popular.
For men, other popular locations include between the base of the scrotum and the anus, as well as through the frenum.
Senior Christian Louis got his frenum pierced about four months ago to increase sexual pleasure and loves it.
After extensive research, Louis paid $200 at Sub-Q in Sacramento for three piercings through the underside of his shaft, he said. Though he was told to wait six weeks before engaging in any sexual activity, he only made it to day seven because he was so sensitive.
Getting the actual piercing does not hurt, but he was in a lot of pain the next couple of days, Louis said. Though even with the soreness it still felt pleasurable.
His girlfriend thinks having sex with him feels like a dildo with ribbing, she said.
“It’s great too, because it really helps hit the G-spot in the doggy-style position,” she said.
The only difficulty they have is when she tries to perform fellatio on him because the piercings easily snag, she added.
Despite the oral difficulties, Louis wants to get additional work done. His girlfriend, who already has her nipples pierced, plans on getting the clitoral hood piercing soon.
This gives new meaning to the term “family jewels.”
