Low drinking age won't dampen bingeing

The ancient Greeks believed the gemstone amethyst warded off drunkenness. Apparently if abstinence isn't your thing, amethyst may be for you. A new movement called the Amethyst Initiative has been recruiting college presidents to sign a statement urging lawmakers to have a "dispassionate debate" about the effectiveness of setting the legal drinking age at 21.

Iranian athletes attack NBA, set on world domination

Iran is invading. The Office of Foreign Assets Control authorized the NBA to negotiate contracts Aug. 20 with a 7-foot-2-inch Iranian basketball player and Olympian named Hamed Ehadadi, whose dream is to play in the NBA. The decision came only five days after the NBA sent a stern letter to 30 franchises forbidding them to conduct talks with any Persian player, saying that they needed OFAC approval.
Iraq war illusions circulate, confuse

After years of the systematic destruction of Iraq through mechanized methods of economic strangulation and military invasion, the country is left with a devastated society, chaotic rulers, almost 2 million dead and a gloomy future. These years have produced a large opposition of the war, but this opposition is influenced by the effects and results, rather than on the principle of going to war in the first place.

Congratulations, Chico State. The university has been graced with winning two more titles related to being environmentally friendly. Not only were we among the 10 greenest colleges in America, but we also won the 2008 Best Practices Award for Student Energy Efficiency.
