As teens take cues from their idols and tween-celebrity trends, young girls will soon be looking like soccer moms or washed-up porn stars.
Preteen plastic surgery
The fountain of youth has been sought for centuries but is, realistically, found under a surgeon's knife. Plastic surgery has gone from taboo to commonplace in less than a decade, and Lindsay Lohan's little sister, Ali, has been the first to hop on the trend.
The 14-year-old singer/actress has been accused of having a nose job and having her freckled face bleached. Pictures of Ali show she has changed her body in the two years since hitting the spotlight.
Underage exposure
From skimpy Halloween costumes to padded training bras, young girls are bombarded with sexually suggestive media.
Even megastar Miley Cyrus, Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana," bared it all in June's Vanity Fair. The 15-year-old was draped in a sheet and suggestively looked over her bare shoulder with red, pouting lips. While this photo shoot was conducted under the watchful eye of Miley's father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, she could not escape scrutiny from the press.
Daniel Radcliffe, 19, of "Harry Potter" fame, has decided to grow up by exposing his barley legal man meat in "Equus" on Broadway. Radcliffe stands full frontal for seven minutes, but exposing his magic wand is a departure from his PG-rated image.
Pregnancy is, like, so hot
America's obsession with unrealistic, ultra-thin body types has been countered by teen pregnancy. While a bloated belly after a big meal and a swollen uterus are hardly on a level of normal comparison, girls have been fed the idea that unprotected sex is not as bad as every teacher and parent says.
Jamie Lynn Spears gave birth at age 17. Her pregnancy plastered the covers of almost every tabloid and glamorized that she was stupid enough to tap it and not wrap it. Whether you're a knocked-up knucklehead, an overly sexualized starlet or a plastic preteen, growing up is a process that shouldn't be rushed.
