Guard/forward Robert Ash has ridden the highs and the lows of the men's basketball team during the last couple of seasons. Now, with a new coaching staff and a revamped roster, the 6-foot-4-inch senior looks toward his final season to leave a lasting impression.

What is going to set this season apart from the last one?
I think we just got a good group of core guys, we got a lot of good players - a lot of new guys - but really deep. We play hard so that's going to give us a chance to beat anyone.

What is something you hope will be fixed by the season's start?
I think we're on the right track, there isn't really anything to sort out. Repetitions on defense and ... continuing to work on our rotations are important, but I really think we're on the right track. We just gotta continue to work hard, even though it's so early in the season we have to maintain that strong mentality.

Your coach, how is he different from any other coach you've ever had?
He's real intense. For the most part he's real positive and the only time he really gets on you is when you deserve it. That's a good thing to play for. He's a very hard worker, he's always in his office - always willing to rebound for you. All of the staff is always willing to rebound for you. They give you the time and attention to review film and work on your game. They're always there to help.

The Wildcats have endured some tough seasons recently, how is this one going to change that?
Yeah, I've been there for those frustrating seasons. I know this might sound selfish, but personally I want to get a lot of wins, more than the last couple of seasons. The last times they didn't go the way we thought they were, and so hopefully it lasts long and we go strong to get a lot of W's.
