Three men's basketball players to watch
Issue date: 11/12/08 Section: Hoops Preview
Andy Bocian • F/CAs either forward or center, Bocian, the 6-foot-6-inch senior, is one of the tallest players on the team. He must be a monster in the post for the 'Cats to compete with taller, more athletic frontcourts in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. He is built to box out and out-muscle opponents. Bocian is a first-year Wildcat after transferring from Fremont's Ohlone College. He must adjust to the NCAA level in order to compete.

Junior Russell • G
Russell will have to be the seasoned floor general and a point contributor for Greg Clink's 'Cats. He led Chico State with nine points in its exhibition opener against the San Francisco Dons and will have to continue using his speed and agility to drive to the bucket. Despite his 5-foot-7-inch stature, Russell protects the ball well and was good enough to make a Division I roster. He went to the NCAA Tournament last year as a member of the Cal State Fullerton Titans - a pivotal experience to bring to the table.
Justin Argenal • G

Last year's point guard, senior Justin Argenal, has moved to the shooting guard position to make room for Division I transfer Junior Russell. Argenal led the 'Cats in assists last year with 5.2 per game, while scoring only six per contest. Now, with the freedom to move without the ball, Argenal may see a higher points-to-assist ratio and get the opportunity to show off his 3-point touch, despite a tough season from beyond the arc in 2007-2008.
