Letters to the Editor
Issue date: 11/19/08 Section: Opinion
I am rather unhappy with the recent quality of the opinion section. Everyone is entitled to them, but I wish those that made it into writing included more thought.
Regarding the editorial about Prop 8: Not everyone who voted for 8 did it because they felt icky about homosexuality or because they are bigots. I personally did it because I truly believe it will be more beneficial for all sexual orientations if marriage was reserved for a girl and guy…
Miss Chandler then flat out tells me that not voting for Obama clearly means I like our current situation and I am ignorant. This would not fly in any logic class. Think first, then type…
Lastly, Miss Siino's article does not debunk the media contribution to the amounts of sex kids have as stated on the front of the paper. She uses few (and rare) examples of the media portraying sex as something to be cautious about to show how the media isn't making our youth more sexually active.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, I simply wish the articles could show an understanding of both sides of each issue before reasonably and logically attacking them.
One-sided arguments that demonize the opposing side are rarely credible.

Mr. Hulen, whose point about backing up one's claims is certainly valid, should consider modeling the sort of responsible writing he wishes to see in the Orion. (Continued…)
