Whether you are a student in a committed relationship or just young at heart with the love of your life, romance is the key to any healthy sexual relationship.
During the course of our lives we find ourselves, at times, floating down a current we can't control. And in our relationships we can end up scheduling sex, even if we don't realize it, around work, school, friends and family.
But when students coordinate sex as if it were a midnight meeting, it can become rhythmic and feel too regular. Sex is a special way to share your love, but it's also a fun and exciting time to find your inner sexual being.
I spoke with a cute couple who have been going out for a year and the key to their success is participating in activities. The girlfriend said the key to keeping their relationship romantic is to go out and do different things all the time.
She proclaimed that having exciting and random sex isn't the main way to be more romantic.
However, as her boyfriend walked into the room, I wanted to ask him on the matter.
"I just try to do different positions," he said.
In his defense, his girlfriend said he's very romantic in many ways.
But what are these things that make a couple more desirable to each other and make a relationship more romantic?
What I liked to do for a former girlfriend was make her feel wanted. If I've learned anything, it's that women don't get turned on as quickly as men.
Putting in some effort to make the relationship more meaningful will often make sex better and will often make a partner feel sexy and wanted. However, an evening planned with soft music and lit scented candles for your partner doesn't always secure lovemaking.
I spoke to a sex psychologist once and she said the best way to have a better sex life is to think about having sex more often during the day.
Well, that doesn't seem hard.
However, when students are constantly overwhelmed with midterms and minimum wage jobs, sex is unfortunately low on the priority scale.
So when you are walking from class to class, just take a moment and imagine you and your partner having passionate, romantic sex. This may sound a little weird, but a little anticipation for a romantic sexual encounter with your partner can be just the ingredient to increase the romance in your relationship.
So when you are trying to cue up the right song for the perfect mood for your partner, just remember that within a great song, just like a healthy sexual relationship, a good melody is never as good without the right lyrics.
