New coach rebuilds team

Greg Clink has signed his first two recruits as the new men's basketball head coach and is one step closer to rebuilding the team. Clink announced May 7 that 6-foot-4-inch Ethan Stone will be a Wildcat next fall after his senior year at Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova.

Bauhs finishes 16th at Olympic Trials

After a record setting spring semester, Chico State's Scott Bauhs' year ended in disappointment during the 10,000 meters at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon. Bauhs struggled with stomach pains finishing 16th with a time of 28:54.

Outlaws ready to start title defense

The skies will light up May 30 when the Chico Outlaws' season begins. The Outlaws, last year's Golden Baseball League champions, will have their first home game of the season against the Long Beach Armada in the first of three "fireworks nights" at Nettleton Stadium.

Coach hopes to lead baseball team to first series victory in nine years

As the semester comes to a close, the men's baseball team hopes to delay its summer plans and travel to the Illinois to compete in the Division II College World Series starting May 24. The Wildcats' spot in the championship depends on if they survive the regionals against the best teams in the West, including California Collegiate Athletic Association champion Sonoma State.

Track and field teams represented well at NCAA Championships in Los Angeles

After celebrating its fifth consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship title, the men's track and field team split into two teams. One headed to Los Angeles for the Occidental College Invitational on May 10, where a highly competitive group of long-distance and medium-distance runners competed from all over the country.

Commentary: Northern California fishing beats summer heat

The north state can be an outdoorsman's paradise in the summer, particularly for anglers. Several different species of fish can be caught in a variety of scenic settings - if you know where to go, that is. Lake Oroville Lake Oroville is the second largest reservoir in California and has more than 167 miles of shoreline.
