Devil Kat Rock Productions will present Belles and Whistles, March of the Mannequins and Oakland-based The Hot Toddies on Thursday night at Nick's Night Club.
The Hot Toddies are touring Northern California, Washington and Oregon. The band has played at the club twice before, and will showcase songs from its 2007 full-length debut album "Smell the Mitten," as well as songs from its 2006 self-titled EP.
"We love the Chico crowd," vocalist Erin Skidmore said in an e-mail. "Everyone is always super friendly, and they seem to love music and checking out the bands that come through town."
Devil Kat Rock Productions has always had a hand in presenting this Bay Area sensation to the Chico masses, said Kat Diablo, booking agent and talent buyer.
"This is probably my third or fourth time bringing The Hot Toddies here," she said. "Chico loves 'em and so do I."
Founding band members Heidi Bodeson and Skidmore began writing songs for The Hot Toddies in 2004. They asked keyboardist Jessica Wright and drummer Sylvia Hurtado to join the band in late 2005.
The seven-piece Belles and Whistles includes Robin Baccior, brothers Cameron and Nolan Ford, Beth Knight, Molly McNally, Dallas Oliver and local music icon Scott Pressman, also known as Ska-T.
Each member has an impressive resume of bands they've played for in the past. Molly McNally plays multiple instruments in Dick and Jane, and the Ford brothers can be seen with The Secret Stolen.
Belles and Whistles are self-described '70s love folk, covering artists such as Joni Mitchell, The Band, The Beatles and Merle Haggard, Oliver said.
The bandmates take turns as frontman or frontwoman and switch instruments throughout the show. The band plays new songs every time they play a show, usually learning the songs the same day of the performance.
March of the Mannequins includes acoustic guitarist Ernesto Alvarado, vocalist William McGahan, drummer Robert Smith, bassist Adam Scarborough and guitarist Eric Danielli, owner of Cafe Coda.
March of the Mannequins is "a musical collective of like-minded individuals," Danielli said. Originally starting a duo, the band expanded to five members in spring 2008.
The band is no stranger to the nightclub, Diablo said.
"This is my third time with March of the Mannequins," said Diablo. "Also, the owner of my favorite breakfast spot, Cafe Coda, is in this band."
