After a raucous comeback win on Friday night, the Chico Outlaws took it to the St. George Roadrunners from the start on Saturday evening at Nettleton Stadium, winning 5-0.
Starting Outlaws pitcher Trevor Caughey, a former member of the Baltimore Orioles franchise, brought his "A" game, delivering a complete game shutout: scattering only three hits over nine innings.
The quality start was a rare one for the Outlaws, who have been doomed by inconsistent pitching all year, with a team ERA of 6.05 through Friday.
The Outlaws offense, which waited until the eighth inning to score on Friday evening, jumped on Roadrunner starter Justin Abbott for four runs in the bottom of the second inning.
This rally included an RBI single by center fielder Steve Boggs, an RBI single by Friday night's hero, Jesse Kovacs and a two RBI double from catcher Matt Ceriani.
The Outlaws would tack on one more in the bottom of the eighth inning, courtesy of an RBI single from Bryan Silverman.
Boggs led the way on offense for Chico, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Outlaws conclude the 2008 season on Sunday evening at Nettleton Stadium, the final game of the series against St. George. The first pitch set for 6:05 p.m.
