Senior Nick Boles has been named new director of university affairs for the Associated Students.

After weeks of constant campaigning, 51.17% of the 1364 students who voted selected Boles as their first choice for director.

Junior Jeff Kell received the 26.39% of votes, senior Lars Ronten had 11.44%, and senior Bob Reynolds had 8.65%.

Though senior Meghan Pursell chose to drop out early in the race, 2.35% of students still voted for her.

This year, students proved to be more passionate about the changes they hope to see happen. Only 371 students voted in last year's A.S. special election for commissioner of community affairs, which is less than a fourth of the number that came out for this election.

Boles plans to increase school spirit, academic assistance, and cultural diversity and awareness on campus, he said in a earlier interview.

The win feels amazing, Boles said, and he's thankful for all of the support he's had along the way.

"Now I finally can really start making a difference," he said. "It feels really, really good."

How unfortunate - another bonehead elected to office. I'm curious, where are all the beer pong balls this semester, Boles? Yay for drunken frat boys and beer pong! Go Chico State!

Agreed. I voted for Jeff Kell. I will not toot the runner ups horn, however, he was the most qualified candidate running for the special election. Notice that even during the election, he put his platform to work and already began to have more bike racks around buildings on campus. (Continued…)

Sounds like sour grapes from sore losers. It was a special election and apparently Boles got people to vote.

Funny how that works...

I also think Jeff Kell should have won. It's sad to say that people vote on popularity not what the candidates actually have to say. Or it could be the way Nick and his hoodlums forced people to vote for him by looking over there backs while they vote. (Continued…)

I heard Boles made racist phone calls to the candidates. He admitted to it right before the election results came in.

Boles should be recalled. I can't believe you people actually voted for him.

Is the AS still providing a $1200 a month salary and an additional clothing allowance for the AS Student Body, which was the case from 99-06? Just another mismanagement of public funds. (Continued…)

Well, good. I'm pleased to know that I'm not the only one in the student body voicing my opinion over Nick Boles' nomination.

As for Jeff, you should shoot for presidency. (Continued…)

Nick Boles is a drug addict. Then again, hes a direct reflection of everything Chico is about.
