The women's volleyball team looked like a powerhouse in Acker Gym Wednesday after dominating Cal State Stanislaus in three straight sets without ever trailing.
The 'Cats came out strong in the first set and controlled the tempo of the game as Erica Brick and Lindsay Macias hooked up time and time again for some essential scores. Chico State ended the set with great haste as they closed out the Warriors 25-14.
The second set started off with two errors by Cal State Stanislaus to give them a two-point deficit.
There were flashes of crimson jerseys as the Wildcats were all over the floor and forced their opponents to call a timeout after jumping out to a 5-1 lead. The 'Cats forced the Warriors to take another timeout as the set progressed after jumping out to a 17-10 lead, but it didn't break the momentum of the home team.
Macias' game-high 11 kills helped eradicate the opponent's defense the entire game, and her play was a big factor in the third set.
The 'Cats scored three straight goals to start off the set and later found themselves with a 5-1 lead once again. The final set was back and forth to begin and the Warriors were just one point from tying the game at 12, but Macias and her team pulled away and ended the set 25-17 to complete the sweep.
Erica Brick finished with a game-high 25 assists in the fourth conference win, improving Chico State's overall record to 11-6.
Chico State will next face No. 12 UC San Diego Friday at Acker Gym.
