Professor works for peace in Israel

The desire for peace in Israel isn't seen or heard much, but for one professor it's all he sees. Recreation professor Michael Leitner has been to Israel several times. Every time he has been there he has been impressed by the want for peace, he said. He's working on several projects to increase the chances of it happening.

Wainwright, Kottke bring string wizardry to Chico

A crowd of hundreds gathered Wednesday night for singing and strumming. Loudon Wainwright III and Leo Kottke brought their unique blends of songs and stories to Laxson Auditorium, courtesy of Chico Performances. The green field in front of Laxson Auditorium had couples from all ages convened, some even enjoying a picnic on spots of grass under a grand tree.

Student raped on campus

Updated at 6 p.m. on Oct. 10 A 23-year-old student was raped at about 1:20 a.m. Friday on campus after a man abducted her from near Taylor Hall. The suspect grabbed the woman's arm, made verbal threats and pointed a gun at her near the corner of West Second Street and Normal Avenue, said University Police Lt. Robyn Hearne.
