Recent rise in male frontal nudity ballsy, often comical

Male member gets more laughs than female form

We’ve all seen ’em — breasts. When I go see a movie that is rated anything higher than G, I fully expect to see some nipple.

So, I was prepared to see some steamy sex scenes when I went to see “Sex and the City” with a few of my friends. As a “Sex and the City” virgin, I was expecting to see all the leading ladies naked. No big surprise, since they have been doing it for years on the show.

The movie was all I expected it to be until a steamy shower scene popped up near the end. For those of you who haven’t seen it, there are shots of the rock-hard body of Gilles Marini lathering up as the camera moves up and down his muscular frame.

Then you see it. Just the tip, but never the less, it was there. Penis. I was shocked.

I thought the movie was just trying to tease me, but I never imagined it would never go all the way and show me the goods.

Boy, was I wrong.

This isn’t the only film in which male frontal nudity is on display. The johnson is breaking into the mainstream movie market, hard and fast. And it’s about time.

From Colin Farrell in the 2004 film “Alexander,” to Jason Segel in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” more and more men are deciding to let it all hang out.

I’m happy that Hollywood is finally trying to show men and women in the buff equally, but it still makes me squeamish to see a guy’s junk out in the open — I think a lot of other women feel the same way.

Why? When a woman strips down, men watching it immediately go into sexual overdrive. A naked woman’s figure is hot, sexy and looked at as a means of arousal.

This is definitely not the case when it comes to the naked male body. My first reaction when I see full frontal? Laughing. It is not one of those, “that guy has a crooked member and shouldn’t be up there” kind of laughs.

It’s more of an uncomfortable response to something I don’t know how to handle. There are — of course — films that purposely use the penis as a means of comic relief.

Movies such as “Superbad,” for example, which featured numerous “dick” drawings ranging from a superhero penis to a banana with a head. The exact opposite of what we see with naked women on the big screen, male nudity is a joke while female nudity is all about sex.

Maybe men are starting to go full frontal because that’s the only way filmmakers can get nudity in the movies at all.

Many actresses are choosing to not do nude films, mainly because of the stigma and type casting that goes along with taking that path.

Reese Witherspoon and Julia Roberts refuse to get naked for the camera and up-and-coming starlets Elisha Cuthbert and Eliza Dushku also say they will be keeping their clothes on, according to an article in the LA Times.

So if the women won’t do it, I guess it’s up to the men. And in the future, I’ll try to keep my childish giggles to myself when a man bares it all and lets his little friend get his shot in the spotlight.

What there is is much more male frontal nudity than female frontal nudity and it is long past the time to start seeing equal amounts. I am tired of male genitals spewed everywhere but a very rare occurrance to actually see any female genitals. That is a huge double standard. That is the last taboo- female genitals exposed in the same manner that males have had their genitals exposed.

Women with average bodies who have done on screen nudity have been applauded, look at Kate Winslet. How about Tyra Banks, Queen Latifah, Scarlet Johanssen, Selma Hayek, anytime I've read some magazine review about these women it's mentions their fuller fugures, how they're "not afraid to have curves", yada yada. Put anyone of them on screen and nude, you're going to sell more tickets (well, maybe not to Queen Latifah) Let's take an average actor though. Jason Segel in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". There were no websites vying to get the scoop on wether or not he would appear nude before the movie was released, in fact news of his full frontal nude scenes might have kept people from seeing the movie at all. No studio execs asked him to do it or offerred him more money to do it. He did though, twice, once for each eyeball, and now you're blind. Get the point? There is a far higher standard for male nudity, an average male would not be applauded for having an average body, look at the title of the article, it's seen as a joke "ballsy, often comical". Hats off to any woman who could do on screen nudity when that is the prevailing feeling about your genders body as a whole. All in all, sure it's unbalanced, there are more nude females than males. But I honestly think it works out fairly evenly in the end. Men want nudity more, so it's what producers give them, and what do women get, well, they get to look a hell of a lot better naked. If women want more male nudity on screen it'll happen, this article proves there is already a rising trend, though it might happen more if women stopped making fun of said nude males. As for female nudity it's here to stay and as a guy I can't complain about that. So who will be next we wonder, Megan Fox, Jessica Alba, Scarlet Johanssen? Personally speaking, I'd go buy a ticket to something with Ashley Larson in it. (see top of the page)

Against sexual inequality- I would appreciate chatting with a female who does not hate males and is not biased for I feel outraged from the male's point of view in regards to the way I feel males are being exposed.

For those women who are enraged, there are plenty of movies that are showing male full frontal, and it appears that it will become more prevalent. So I've had the discussion with my wife and it would seem that many women feel if men see a breast that women are entitled to see a penis. I, and I think lots of guys, don't feel they are equal and personally think if they want to show penis they should show lips, vulva, hoo hoo, whatever you want to call it. Yeah, we're made different (in more ways than one), but I feel if you show one and not the other it's a double standard. I personally feel that if there's a big trend toward showing a guy's junk a lot more and showing just a quick flash of breasts and nothing else, then this will promote behaviors you don't want in guys wanting to "get theirs" (going to strip clubs, looking at porn, or whatever.) Perhaps I'm off-base in wanting things to be fair, but I've seen very few women's butts and much less full-frontal and no vulva. Almost every movie PG-13 and up has a guy's butt in it. I expect after a while I'll probably want to even the playing field. Sorry, but I'm just that petty.

The only nudity I have seen on television or in the movies is male. When women whine about nudity in the media they mean bare breasts - but only if said breasts are female. A great many women find a manly chest a big turn on. Should men be faulted for wanting the same viewing privileges that women already enjoy? Please do not use the old (brain-dead) argument that women's breasts are different ... there cannot be a one-sided difference. In the end, women, whether they consciously realize it or not, are still demanding a strong measure of chivalry: they want to be protected and have their sensitivities respected while according absolutely no consideration in return. Chivalry is an anachronism that must be stamped out; it can not be permitted in a world of mandated equality. Bring on the (visible) vulvas - they are several decades overdue on our viewing screens.

I'm getting tired of having to sit with my boyfriend and watch EVERY SINGLE movie have a nude bitch in it. And you can't get mad at them because their just "watching the movie" and you just can't do anything about it. I don't care if it has no male or female nudity at all i just say take it all out of the movies! That's fair. Our society is like a robot making people into robots showing sex before you even know what it is. It's not fair for the girls who DONT want to act like little skanks to have to be surrounded by the ones who do. It's just getting worse and worse as the newer movies come out. Even in PG movies their is still some type of sexual meaning. Why don't they show females who are REAL women and don't have to take their tops off to get a part in the movie. And for all you men who say we are just bitching, HA men dont have to deal with it every time they see a movie it is veryyyy rare. And if they did have to deal with it they'd be bigger babies about it then they already are. And for the men who say they don't mind it it's because you are pigs. Most REASONABLE MEN would agree that it's uncomfortable to have to watch with the person they love NOT LUST. Save it for the pornos if you wanna see some naked chicks.

God created women after man. God created women because man needed companionship. Its in the best book ever written, towards the front, take a wild guess which book. Im not sexist, but man is a very vision creature, as opposed to women. Women are always bitching about being second to a girl who they feel is more attractive, thats why it makes them squeemish. That insecure, unconcious "oh no, my man is going to think she is more sexually attractive than myself, her boobs are bigger & nicer, her ass is nicer. et cetera..." thought process. well too fucking bad its how we are programmed, we would fuck any decent looking women, so keep your panties on, you dont like it, blame God, just quit whining. As for the men, just lay off the bitching about male junk on screen, dont stoop to the juvenile "inequality" argument, which so many women whine about. Act like the superior sex like we are breed to be.

What you must realise the thing about exposing male genitalia is that women, mostly the young ones have proliferated the thought that men with small penises are losers? This sort of thinking is merely a female preserve as most men do not think of a small breasted woman as being anything other than a woman. So there is this fear of being seen as having a small dick in public, so who, unless they conform to the female requirement is going to stand there with there tackle out. There is nothing wrong with nudity, i am a naturist, but the media would soon put the headlines, "Hollywood boy wonder has acorn dick" everywhere you look, but they would never quote of a small breasted skinny girl like Kate Moss being "under endowed" Try and deny this, if you have ever watched a porn movie you won't see any 4" penises on there, but how many people have 12" to show off?

I am a women who gets very enraged at the movie industry. Not one have I seen a naked man in even an R rated movie. Why are women so exposed. I agree with all the other women who have commented on this site. It makes me feel like the womans body is second class and under appreciated. There should be equal nudity or NONE at all! I am so glad I found this site, because I wondered if anyone else felt the same way. For all you ignorant guys out there, breasts are covered in society just as the penis is, so I think it is fair to compare them. We are not discussing sexual reproduction. We are discussing the female and male bodies in erotic ways. Hollywood makes men seem superior and I am enraged. Are there any sensible men out there who agree? I just think about what our society is coming to and how easy it is getting for children to view these R rated movies....seeing things and activities that children should not know about. I would love to chat with someone who feels the same way as I do, because I really need to talk to someone else so I don't hate men.

I have to agree with Tim1974. A cock cannot be compared with boobs from a scientific FACT point of view.

Didn't you guys do biology in high school?

Breasts are NOT sex reproductive organs where as a penis is. How can you classify two different things in the same category as fairness?

I'm not saying this because I am a man, I am only portraying a scientific point of view.

And Science is fact.

Sorry ladies.

I live in america, not europe. Full frontal is for porn, and makes most people uncomfortable. Why would that be rated R? I know many people who dont want to have anything to do with it. Bad step for america

To those women who say it is about time for men to be exposed in all their glory, I agree and support full frontal male nudity in films. But let's be fair and have full female frontal nudity which means truly seeing a woman genitals, and not just a glimse of pubic hair. I can not name one hollywood film in which I saw a vagina, but over the past year I have seen 12 movies and 22 Broadway plays with men fully exposed and some with erections. It is time to take Hollywood to task, and let's see how they can incorporate a vagina into mainstream movies. Keep up this foolishness and we might as well just stay home and rent porn movies instead of going to the movies.......

What's funny is that one of Cuthbert's most memorable roles was in the Girl Next Door. She plays a porn star and parades around in lingerie. I don't see how that's much different than nudity.

I feel that all nudity is bad. I can't take my family to the movies. I can't watch tv after 9 pm. I can't subscribe to the movie channels. I can't go on vacation. What is wrong with our country? If you notice, the more open we become with our sexuality the higher the rate of divorce. I am sick of nudity and I am tired of the FCC or any form of our government not doing anything about it.

I think the comic factor is greater when the naked guy is plus-size, older or both. I recall a Nic Cage film where he was thrown into a jail cell with a large naked inmate (can't recall the film, can anyone help?). The big guy was laying on his stomach giving a full view of his XX-large buns. Hilarious.

Brittany, you are about as dumb as a person could be! How about for every penis we show a pussy since breasts do not equal a penis. Females are so illogical!
